Chamberlain Coffee Venice: Abbot Kinney’s Most Anticipated New Café Is Here

Venice didn’t need another coffee shop. And yet, when Chamberlain Coffee opened its first-ever standalone café at 1142 Abbot Kinney on May 7, the line wrapped around the block before noon and hasn’t really let up since. That’s the power of Emma Chamberlain — and honestly, the Chamberlain Coffee Venice café earns every bit of it.

The Space

The design is the first thing that hits you. Proem Studio — the same team behind Emma’s own kitchen — built something that feels less like a coffee chain outpost and more like a very expensive apartment you wish were yours. A green marble counter anchors the room. Warm wood shelves frame the back bar. Sage walls carry flashes of Chamberlain’s signature blue throughout. Retro light boxes and a rotating selection of quirky prints fill the walls in the way only a space designed by someone who genuinely cares about art can pull off.

The green marble counter was sourced from the same stone used in Emma’s own kitchen — a detail that sounds insufferable in a press release and somehow looks completely right in person. The Abbot Kinney address was the obvious choice for a brand that grew out of Emma’s personal aesthetic, and the space fits the neighborhood without trying to out-design it. High praise on a block where everything is always trying to out-design everything else.

What to Order

Start with the Venice exclusives. The iced tiramisu latte is the unambiguous move: vanilla syrup, milk, and espresso layered under a mascarpone cream top finished with cocoa powder. It’s a dessert that pretends to be breakfast, and we are completely fine with that. The iced olive oil latte raises eyebrows until you taste it — earthy, rich, slightly grassy, just sweet enough — and then suddenly it all makes sense. These two drinks are only available at this location, which means yes, you actually do need to come in person.

The core Chamberlain lineup holds up just as well. The peanut butter mocha latte is the comfort order — reliably great, no drama. The butterfly pea matcha turns a dramatic shade of purple when the milk hits the cup, making it roughly the most photogenic drink currently being served on the Westside. Pastries rotate from local LA bakers; ask what’s fresh rather than ordering blindly. Whatever they say, get it.

“The tiramisu latte is a dessert that pretends to be breakfast. Abbot Kinney is the only place in LA where that’s a completely reasonable morning decision.”

Why Abbot Kinney Makes Sense

Chamberlain Coffee could have opened anywhere. The brand already has national wholesale distribution, a massive online following, and a co-sign from every lifestyle publication that matters. It didn’t need Venice to prove anything. But the fact that it chose this address — right in the middle of the most competitive coffee corridor on the Westside — says something about how well the team understands what LA actually responds to.

Venice has always had a high tolerance for celebrity adjacency and a low tolerance for anything that doesn’t earn its spot on the block. Intelligentsia is still here because it’s genuinely great. Gjusta is still a destination because the food is that good. Chamberlain passes the same test. The line isn’t just the influencer crowd — it’s neighbors, regulars, and the kind of Abbot Kinney locals who roll their eyes at hype and then quietly become the most devoted repeat customers in your system.

It also helps that the space is one of the more beautiful cafés to open on the Westside in years. Interior design on Abbot Kinney is a competitive sport, and Proem Studio put up a real number. Whether you’re coming for the tiramisu latte or just to sit in a beautifully designed room with a good espresso, watch the foot traffic, and feel briefly like you live somewhere interesting — the trip is justified either way. Pair it with dinner at one of the restaurants nearby on Abbot Kinney and you have a full Venice evening.

Beating the Line

The line is real on weekends and most weekday mornings through mid-afternoon. Show up before 8:30am on weekdays for the shortest wait — it feels like a local secret even though it’s not. The café is order-at-the-counter format with inside window bar seating and a handful of outdoor chairs on the sidewalk. Parking on Abbot Kinney is brutal as always; the paid lot on Venice Boulevard is a three-minute walk and usually has space. Grab your latte, walk toward the beach.
